A Lineman’s Gear

Every piece of equipment matters when lives are on the line

Electric lineman work is heavy work: After pulling on his boots, strapping on his tools and gear and throwing a hand line on his shoulder, a lineman is carrying a lot of extra weight. As seen above, Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative Apprentice Lineman Kyle Kasper added 46 pounds after suiting up for a Texas Co-op Power magazine photo shoot. His hand line alone weighs about 8 pounds. So, needless to say, strength and agility are two essential attributes for anyone wanting to pursue a lineman’s career.
