2012 Victoria Livestock Show

This year marks the 66th year of the Victoria Livestock Show, founded by the Victoria Jaycees. It is the largest event held in Victoria and surrounding counties each year with over 12,000 visitors. It is one of the few remaining livestock shows where 100% of the proceeds from each animal sold at the auction is paid to the 4-H/FFA Junior Exhibitors. The mission of the Victoria Livestock Show is to provide an opportunity for the youth of Victoria County to exhibit their 4-H and FFA projects, developing agricultural knowledge and leadership skills.

Come to the Storytelling Capital of Texas for the 23rd annual George West Storyfest, featuring professional storytellers, cowboy poets, The Texas State Liars’ Contest (c), music, living history, a classic car show, a children’s area, ghost stories, and much more. Living History/Civil War Reenactment

Held at the Historic Liendo Plantation, in Hempstead, the 11th Texas Cavalry presents the 11th anual Civil War Reenactment. A full day of period demonstrations (music, blacksmith, medical, weaving, etc.) held on the lawn, fashion show, US, CS and winter camps to visit, canon demonstrations, mounted cavalry compation and lots more. All for $10.00 per person. Tours of the house available. And of course the battle between the states with 1000 reenactors, 25+ canons, 65+ mounted cavalry. Modern food vendors on site.
