1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound hot breakfast sausage
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 stalks celery, diced
1 large white onion, diced
1 bell pepper, diced
1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 packet chili seasoning mix
1 can (14.5 ounces) chili beans
Diced jalapeños to taste

  • Brown the beef and sausage in skillet until fully cooked. Drain and set aside. Add oil to skillet and sauté celery, onion and bell pepper until tender.
  • Combine meat mixture and sautéed vegetables in a large pot. Add diced and crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, garlic powder, chili powder, parsley, salt, pepper, seasoning mix and 1/3 cup water. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add beans and jalapeños; cook 30 to 45 minutes, covered. Stir every 15 minutes.

Servings: 12. Serving size: 1 1/4 cups. Per serving: 474 calories, 28.6 g protein, 22.3 g fat, 36.2 g carbohydrates, 9.2 g dietary fiber, 1,581 mg sodium, 10.9 g sugars, 78 mg cholesterol
